Port Blair is the home of Cellular Jail(Kala Pani in Hindi) which was constructed by the British to hold the freedom fighters of India. The light and sound show at the Cellular Jail is worth your time. Ross islands are just a couple of mile away from Port Blair and it is a must visit if you are around Port Blair. Events and Festivals
The department of tourism organizes the Island Tourism Festivals to promote tourism in this part of the nation. The 10-day festivities will be buzzing with food stalls, floating restaurants, and markets.
Flea Market is organized on weekends from time to time in the islands at various places providing an opportunity for the locals to showcase their produce also tourists to enjoy the local cuisine, buy local handicrafts and produce.
Monsoon Festival is organized in the month of May and June with lots of Food and merchandise kiosks.
The beauty of Andaman and Nicobar is that the weather is pleasant throughout the year. There is not a single extremity in the islands of Andaman and Nicobars. The sun is normal, it is never too hot or too cold, the rains don’t clog the roads or floods. The weather is tropical throughout the years. Great Andaman trunk road runs through the Main island of Andaman connecting major destinations to Port Blair.
Most of the traveling in the islands are done using ships and boats. There are many state-run seaways and ferry systems to ease the commutation between ports, cities, islands, and tourist hotspots. Many private seaways also operate in and around Port Blair and Havelock islands.
